Cycle Route Warmelo Castle
This fine, compact cycle route along various country estates is ideal if you have limited time. The town of Diepenheim is magical and bursts with history and culture. Once you’ve arrived by bike, visit the internationally famous Drawing Centre or one of the many galleries.
Start and finish of the cycle route is the car park at Warmelo Castle. This castle is part of the National Castle Route: a collection of the most beautiful castle museums and gardens in Holland. The castle is not open to the public, but its stunning gardens can be visited for a small fee from mid April to September. Warmelo Castle’s most famous resident was Princess Armgard, mother of Prince Bernhard. The gorgeous gardens feature many different landscape styles and are a real pleasure to explore. The cycle route follows on past the region’s oldest manorial estate, Diepenheim House, which was mentioned as early as 1177. The gardens of Weldam Castle can be visited for a small fee at set times – the surrounding estate is freely accessible during the day.
