The village of Ruinen is the gateway to the Dwingelderveld National Park. The largest interconnected wet heathland area in Western Europe. Almost 4,000 hectares in size where several flocks of sheep graze. A breathtakingly beautiful landscape characterised by heathland, woods, fens, marshland and drifting sand.
You pass the Ruiner Sheepfold and its watchtower, through the lively village of Dwingeloo with its striking church and see one of the oldest and most famous radio telescopes in the world.
