Cycle route through eastern Achterhoek

Winterswijk, Bredevoort, Winterswijk Ratum
Winterswijk and its surroundings have received the prestigious designation of National Landscape. This landscape stretches from Aalten to the German border, with Winterswijk beautifully situated in the centre. Cycling in the east of the Achterhoek reveals the beautiful bocage landscape, complete with hedgerows and old forests full of Scots pines, many of which are over a hundred years old.
From the Vragenderveen Nature Observation Post, you can take in this beautiful landscape. Further east are the Winterswijk quarries, where you can see history in the different layers of earth.
During your bike ride, you will pass the Onderduikmuseum (Hiding Place Museum) and the rural Boerderij Museum De Neeth (Farm Museum). For those who enjoy traditional Dutch breaks, the Venemansmolen, also known as the Oude Molen, the Meenkmolen and the ruins of Boerderij Hemmink are highly recommended.
This cycle route, rich in museums, windmills and beautiful nature, guarantees a full day out!
