Cycle route right through the Dwingelderveld

Hoogeveen, Dwingeloo
The cosy centre of Hoogeveen has old houses with beautiful facades. For example, take a look at the former drugstore with a gable stone from 1703 that reads "So Godt voor ons is Wie sal tegen ons syn". You will find many old buildings here, so be sure to walk or cycle through this cosy centre.
If you are in Hoogeveen, you should definitely take a look in the Hoofdstraat. Here you will find the water artwork commemorating the canal that used to run here. For those who want to get off their bikes in Dwingeloo, the Sint Nicolaaskerk is highly recommended. Nowadays, this is also known as 'the beacon of Dwingeloo'.
Of course, you can also enjoy nature during this cycle route. For a large part, you cycle through the Dwingelderveld, the largest wet heath area in Western Europe. To enjoy it even more, we have added the lazy gardener's gardens to the route. The perfect place to discover beautiful plants. Prefer looking at animals? Then visit the Bird Park in Ruinen. Plenty to experience during this cycle route!
