Fortress town Gorinchem is part of the Fortress Triangle, which consists of Slot Loevestein, Fort Vuren and the other fortified towns of Woudrichem and Zaltbommel. This fortified triangle is part of one of the most beautifully preserved defence lines in the Netherlands: the New Dutch Waterline. The Waterline was once intended to hold back the enemy, but now everyone is welcome.
