Cycle route Vincent van Gogh in Bargerveen
Emmen, Nieuw Amsterdam, Schoonebeek
Vincent van Gogh is world-famous, but not many people know that he also stayed in Drenthe. For three months, in the southeast of the province. From his Drenthe period, five paintings, about 15 drawings and a series of beautiful letters to his brother Theo have survived.
Follow in Van Gogh's footsteps and discover the places he visited or inspired during his stay. Here you will find sand and peat bogs with Bargerveen as its pearl; the only large, living piece of Bourtange's swamp that remains. Be inspired!
