Cycle route through the Leuvenum Forests
Harderwijk, Garderen, Ermelo
Hop on your bike and explore one of the most beautiful areas of the Veluwe. This route starts in Garderen, a popular spot that can be lively during summer. Before long, you leave the crowds behind and enter the enchanting Speulderbos, known for its mysterious, “dancing” trees.
From this magical forest, you cycle towards the charming village of Ermelo. From there, the route leads you to the water, where you ride along the former sea dike towards Harderwijk. In this vibrant Hanseatic city, there is plenty to see and do: a historic centre, a lovely boulevard and even a small beach island where you can take a relaxing break.
After Harderwijk, you head back into nature and enter the Leuvenum Forests. This area is known for its beautiful network of winding streams flowing through the woodland. You follow the cycling path alongside the gently flowing water towards its source: Lake Uddelermeer.
Along the way, you will also pass the fairy-tale-like Staverden estate and castle, a place that is definitely worth a short stop. A varied route full of nature, culture and inviting spots, the perfect recipe for a wonderful day out on the bike.
