This little church already appears in papers from 1439. Harderwijk was owned by four monasteries in the Hanseatic era, including the Catherina monastery. Two monastery buildings and the entrance gate, named Paradijspoort, remain of the monastery. The monastery's chapel is now owned by Art Centre Catharina Chapel. The centre organises small-scale cultural activities in theatre, film, music and visual arts in this beautifully historic chapel. It also hosts events, weddings and business presentations.
