Cycle route between Overloon and Gemert
Overloon had almost been gone. In 1944 the village was almost completely destroyed at the Battle of Overloon, but after the liberation Overloon was rebuilt. In memory of those black days the War Museum Overloon was established. This route starts in Milheeze. Although the village is not large, it is rich in history: recent excavations have shown that people of the Tjongerculture already lived there 10,000 years ago. The tower of the St. Willibrordus Church dates from the early fifteenth century. In comparison, the octagonal mill Laurentia from the eighteenth century is just a 'young one'.
The cosy villages are interspersed with beautiful nature reserves and charming farmlands. In short, wonderful to cycle through!
