Zwillbrocker Venn

Zwillbrocker Venn - Eibergen

N 52.044667 / E 6.697516

You will find this nature reserve just across the German border. The Zwillbrocker Venn consists of both forest and moorland and houses the largest black-headed gull colony in Germany, with approximately 16,000 birds. It is also the northernmost breeding place in the world for a colony of about 40 flamingos.

The black-headed gulls can be spotted all year round in the area and the flamingos are there from March to the end of May, after which they leave for warmer places. There are many observation huts along the lake, from where you can see the animals. Don't forget to bring your binoculars!
