Vreeburg Farm & Carriage Museum - Schagen

N 52.785775 / E 4.794333

Museum Vreeburg consists of two buildings. The first building is an entirely old-style restored 17th-century city farm. Here you relive the times around 1900. You can see farm rooms completely furnished with authentic furniture, jewellery, clothes and utensils, as well as bedsteads with old-fashioned bed linen. See the old toys, implements and tools. The highlight is the miniature grain thresher, which is still regularly put into operation. Where the music garden is now, there used to be a large orchard.

The second building is a beautiful building at the back of the museum farm, which houses the Carriage Museum. For more than 60 years, a parade of historic carriages has been organised in Schagen during the Westfriese Donderdagen. The museum houses an extensive collection, owned by the organisation Westfriese Folklore, of authentic wagons, such as toy wagons, carriages, shepherds' carriages and tilburrys. Every week, an enthusiastic group of volunteers works to maintain the wagons. As a result, the carriages are in perfect condition and participate in the annual parade!

There is also plenty to do for children with a treasure hunt and a special dress-up afternoon. In addition, changing exhibitions on various historical subjects are displayed and fun activities are organised.
