The Cascade - Hoogeveen
In Hoogeveen in 1632 or 1633 a canal was dug where now the Main State is. This canal had everything to do with economic interests. In this period many products and goods were transported by water. 300 years later the water was experienced as a hindrance and annoyance and the canal was muffled. As a reminder of earlier times, the artist Karin Daan was commissioned in 1995 to make De Cascade, the longest water art work in Europe, on the same site.
