Along the banks of the Hollandse IJssel river, next to the old town centre, ”t Slot Windmill stands proudly as a charming corn mill. With its dark green painted beard and a white border bearing the inscription ‘t Slot ANNO 1832, this mill has a rich history. Back in 1581, the city council was granted permission to build a corn mill on this site, where the castle of the Lords of Ter Gouw had previously stood. Since Heritage Day 2019, Molen ‘t Slot has been managed by the enthusiastic association of Gouda Millers, who passionately watch over this historical gem.
