Just outside Nijmegen lies Mooker Heath, a beautiful nature area with extensive heathlands and forests. Here you are at the northernmost point of Limburg. From the viewpoints over the River Meuse and the church of Cuijk, it feels like you are abroad.
Cycle through the area and enjoy the cultural history. You might spot a sand lizard or a smooth snake on the heath along the way. Mooker Heath has a rich history and has often been the scene of battles. Fighting took place here during the Eighty Years’ War and the Second World War.
Today, thanks to Natuurmonumenten, it is a beautiful nature area where you can cycle through forests and across heathland, looking for special animals and plants.
