Enjoy all the nature that surrounds you in these tranquil surroundings. The Nationaal Park Lauwersmeer is a special area: in the past, fresh and salt water flowed into each other here in the Lauwerszee. A dam was built to reduce the fear of flooding. The result was the creation of this new, bird-rich landscape.

What can you expect from National Park Lauwersmeer? A combination of water, forests, reed beds and rough grasslands. More than 100 bird species spend the winter here every year and this is also the place where some tens of thousands of geese are found. If you want to experience the full bird feast, visit the park in spring and autumn and spot one of the many special bird species.
