Haaksbergerveen - Haaksbergen

N 52.123257 / E 6.768324

One of the most beautiful raised bog areas in the Netherlands lies between Haaksbergen and the German border. It is a beautiful nature area with boggy raised bog, large moors, bushes and grasslands. This varied nature also produces a wide variety of flora and fauna, such as the adder or woolly grass. You would almost say: it is so special, we should leave it alone. Yet the Forestry Commission has sought a balance between nature and recreation.

Riders ride on landscaped paths on high sand ridges, cyclists have their own paths and there is also a long decking path for walkers. There is also a path for the disabled, two lookouts and information boards at the parking places. As the Haaksbergerveen is a wet area, anti-mosquito lotion is recommended in summer.... Tricky, but those insects do ensure that the tree falcon is back here.
