Geniemuseum Vught - Vught

N 51.6598744 / E 5.2565617

The official name of this museum is 'Stichting Historische Geniezameling', but it is better known as Geniemuseum Vught. Just like the infantry, artillery and cavalry, the engineers are part of the army. The engineers are responsible for infrastructure, building structures, installation technology and electrical engineering.

In this museum you will become acquainted with the rich history of the Regiment Genietroepen. This museum has existed since 1970 as part of the Van Brederokazerne. Based on various themes, several exhibitions are displayed in a contemporary way. Photographs of peace missions, scale models and tools can be admired here. Stroll along the collection of old uniforms, which give a colorful picture of the uniforms of engineers from the past 100 years. Some of the uniforms are extra special, as there is a personal story behind them. In the outdoor exhibition you can see the great works, such as bridges, bunkers, and vessels.

The Geniemuseum is located next to the National Monument Camp Vught. The building was used as a concentration camp kitchen at the time. You can still see this in the building's roof structure. From the middle wing you look out onto the former apple orchard of the concentration camp. There is a large photograph in the hallway showing what it looked like then.

For children there is a scavenger hunt laid out for both the indoor and outdoor exhibits.
