De Tempel estate - Rotterdam
In 1485 there was a medieval homestead here that was owned by Johan van Oldebarneveldt, among others. That homestead is no longer there, the current building dates from 1939. Nevertheless, a visit is more than worth it, because it has no fewer than twenty national monuments. Where gardens were changed to the English landscape style on other estates in the 19th century, the geometric baroque garden, complete with statues, has been partially preserved here. Here also stands the oldest oak in Rotterdam.
