The water castle you pass while cycling along the Horenkamp in Well is the Castle of Well, also known as the House of Malsen, which was built in the fourteenth century on behalf of the Van Malsen family. The castle remained in the possession of this prominent family until 1611.
In the Disaster Year of 1672 the French caused significant damage to the castle, which was later restored and expanded several times. The Castle of Well changed hands frequently over the centuries but is still privately owned today. The entrepreneur from Ammerzoden who owns the castle lives there with his family.
