De Wijhese Mill - Wijhe
This mill is the oldest existing octagonal scaffolding mill in Overijssel. Probably the predecessor was a standard-mill. Until then, the mill had always had the function of grinding grain for bakers and farmers. The free upper axle was confiscated by the German occupiers during the war, melted down and possibly processed into war gear. In 1979, partly thanks to the efforts of the De Wijhese Mill Foundation, the mill was restored to its former glory. The current upper axle was then removed from the Marle mill on the other side of the IJssel. At the moment, cattle fodder is still being ground with one pair of grinding stones.
