Zwolle, Hattem, Wapenveld, Wijhe

Thinking of Holland, I see wide rivers slowly going through endless lowlands', Hendrik Marsman wrote during one of his trips abroad. We do not know whether he was thinking of the IJssel River when he wrote his poems, but it is possible. For a large part of this route, you have this border river in sight, meandering through the landscape between Overijssel and Gelderland.

The route also takes you to Hattem, where time seems to have stood still in the historic centre. It is no wonder that a number of museums can be found here, including the Voerman Museum Hattem.

Would you like to shorten the cycle route or go on foot? Then cross the IJssel by ferry at junctions 18 or 59 for one euro. The ferry sails from the end of April to the end of October.
