The southerly part of the Zuiderzeeroute
The Zuiderzeeroute is beautiful but very long. Do you think 400 kilometres of cycling is just a bit too far, but you like to discover a part of this route? Get on the bike and cycle the Southerly part of Zuiderzeeroute.
While cycling around Nijkerkernauw and Eemmeer, you will cross Bunschoten-Spakenburg. Spakenburg is a former fishing village that lay on the Zuiderzee before the construction of the Afsluitdijk. The unique history of this village has been well preserved in the Spakenburg Museum and the Traditional and Fisheries Museum. Discover objects from the past and see if the traditional costume of that time suits you! Be sure to take a look at the old gate of Spakenburg, here are still many old ships. If you want to shorten the route a little, you can take the bicycle ferry (note: check the opening times of the ferry in advance).
