Frisian art and antiques route

Sneek, Grou, Langweer
Grou is the starting point of this unique cycle route through the heart of Friesland. Today, we will take you on a tour that harmoniously combines art and antiques with the natural beauty of this region.
From Grou, we cycle through picturesque villages to the outskirts of Sneek. Via Langweer, through Joure, Akrum and Nes, you will cycle, through polder-like and vast landscape back to Grou. Along the way, enjoy the calming Frisian waters and the greenery of small nature reserves such as Potschar and Groene dijk. Don't forget to take an occasional break at one of the many ferries that not only take us across, but also let us enjoy the unique Frisian landscape. (You will find 3 ferries on this route, more about them later).
Today's theme is art and antiques. In a number of towns we visit, we will stop at galleries, museums and statues, each telling its own story. From modern glass art and designer bags to bronze sculptures and antique photographs. Lovers of antique maps and other historical records will also find plenty to enjoy.
Note!
As mentioned, there are three ferries along this route.
Two of these ferries do not run all year round and not seven days a week. Be well prepared, check the stopover moments and follow an alternative route if needed.
Langwarder Faert ferry, normally runs all year, but if it’s not in service, continue the route by cycling from junction 59 directly to junctions 61–62.
Boornzwaag ferry, if this ferry is not operating, cycle via junctions 91–56–55–57–83–82–84, or the other way around if you’re cycling in the opposite direction.
Nyeskou bike ferry, if this ferry is not running, from junction 73 follow: junctions 68–43–22–92, or the other way around if you’re cycling the route in reverse.
