Experience farm life
Zelhem, Lievelde, Aalten
Get your clogs out of the grease and jump on your tractor. And by tractor we mean the bike, of course. This cycle route takes you back in time to the farm life of yesteryear. Open-air museum Erve Kots shows how the Achterhoek farmer used to live and work. Cycle through the vast meadows, over farm roads and past Saxon farm Eskes. Park your bike at De Neeth Farm Museum with its unique collection of utensils from the past. Apart from the old farm from 1910 you can also greet the cows in the modern dairy farm. The beautifully restored farmhouse in Zelhem called Museum Smedekinck is definitely worth a visit. Do you cycle this route on a Saturday? Then get off your bike at Eco farm Arink to experience the organic farm life of today. Nice to see how farm life has developed over the centuries! Use your old-fashioned horse sense and make sure you take a break in time to fill your stomach. You're probably so hungry you could eat a horse, so you should stop by Eatery de Groes. The enormously varied menu has something for every taste. Enjoy old-fashioned hospitality and conviviality with a view of the village life.
