The two UNESCO World Heritage stop points on this cycle route are almost literally and figuratively opposite. On one side you will find the famous Kinderdijk-Elshout windmill complex, with its 19 windmills as a classic symbol of the Netherlands and our eternal battle against water. On the other side is what was once the most modern factory in the Netherlands and the first daylight factory in Europe. The textbook example of functionalism, a poem in steel and glass and winner of De Milieu Oscar: the Van Nelle factory from 1930.
