Cycling route through two pants

Spanbroek, Benningbroek, Abbekerk
The village of Spanbroek (lierally translated to Spanpants) used to be of great importance, it already received city rights in 1414. In the early years Spanbroek had to share these with surrounding villages such as Opmeer. In that year Abbekerk was also elevated to Stede Abbekerk together with Twisk, Midwoud and Lambertschaag by Willem IV. The court house of then Stede Abbekerk still exists, but since 1830 it has been given a completely different look by a renovation. In Hoogwoud, Willem II of Holland died, not to be confused with King Willem II, in a battle against the West Frisians. With this route you cycle through a nostalgic part of West Friesland where you will encounter the typical old Dutch style.
