Cycling route for Heroes
Helden, Baarlo, Belfeld
Heroes are non-fictional, fictional or historical figures who, in danger and disaster or from a weak position, show courage and a willingness to sacrifice themselves for a greater purpose. Whether the inhabitants of the town of Helden (Heroes) in Limburg are also heroic, we do not know. What we do know is that the Heldense bossen are a wonderful place to cycle and relax. In the woods, you will find Restaurant De Belaeving as a perfect base for your bike ride in these beautiful surroundings. Here big and small heroes and heroines can indulge themselves while enjoying all kinds of delicacies.
Cycle to Baarlo where you can check out the artwork of "The Knot Heroe" and Cobra artist Shinkichi Tajiri. After leaving Baarlo by bike you will cross the river the Maas to the town of Steyl, here you can rest and relax in the gardens of Mission house and Missionmuseum St. Michael. Are you completely relaxed and untied? Cycle back to node 58 and continue your route to node 54. This way you wil cycle along the river and you will come across Keverberg Castle, the most modern castle of the Netherlands. Whether you are a big or a small heroe/heroine, whether you are from Helden of not, this cycling route is for everyone who would like to enjoy nature and history in Limburg province. And don't you forget: not all heroes where capes.
*An alternative route would be to cycle from node 5 in the town of Steyl to the following nodes: 70 - 99 - 2 - 3, cross the river to node 53 from where you can cycle the original route again. Or the other way around if you choose to cycle this route in the opposite direction.
