Cycling route completely lost in Limburg

America, Griendtsveen, Helenaveen
We start the cycling route in America. No, we won't cross the Atlantic Ocean, but we start in the town of America. The place in Limburg probably owes its name to the time when the heather was cultivated. The areas were so far away that they were given names such as America, Siberia and California. Merchant Jan van der Griendt was one of the founders of the Society for the exploitation and cultivation of the Peel. He founded the village Helenaveen, named after his wife. His two sons continued his work and founded the village of Griendtsveen. Hundreds of motorcycles gather in Kronenberg on Ascension Day for the 'Heaven ride' through these beautiful surroundings.
