Cycling route Almost in Belgium
Bladel, Bergeijk, Luyksgestel
Park the car at De Keizer Food & Drinks and start the cycling route where you cycle close to the border of Belgium. You go through a number of small villages. Bladel is called 'The Village Between the Beatitudes'. And rightly so, the surroundings are beautiful. On your bike ride you will come across the 'Egyptian gate', an attractive green area in the middle of the Kempen. The weaving mill 'De Ploeg' was located in Bergeijk. The new factory was designed by Gerrit Rietveld, where Mien Ruys designed the gardens. Not a tiny garden, by the way: the garden is no less than 120,000 square meters! There are some special trees, with explanations. The landscape park can be visited, as well as the Flower and Sculpture Garden (also by Mien Ruys. Luyksgestel did not belong to the Republic of the Seven Provinces, because it was an enclave of the principality of Liège, which also explains the name of the village. If you want to be active, then choose a guided tour (reservation required) through the Kempisch Bakery Museum in the village. You can not only see everything that has to do with the bakery, but you also leave with your own self made sandwich.
