Cycle route Welcome to the Spanders Forest
Hilversum, Nederhorst den Berg
Varied nature, quiet lakes, ancient forests and vast heathland: this cycling route introduces you to the surprisingly green surroundings of Hilversum, a city best known as a media hub.
This route takes you past the water areas De Wijde Blik, De Spiegel, Blijkpolderplas and through the Loenderveense Plassen.
Just outside Hilversum, you cycle straight through Spanderswoud. Originally a production forest, nature has been given free rein here again since 1981. The old beech trees are a beautiful sight in every season, and many forest birds, fungi and bats feel completely at home here.
Now you have seen city, water and forest, so we also like to show you another natural highlight near Hilversum: heathland. In summer it glows purple, while in winter it feels misty and mysterious. You cycle past Bussumerheide, Westerheide, Zuiderheide and along the edge of the Hoorneboegse Heide, where many burial mounds can be found.
Get to know the natural side of Hilversum and enjoy!
