Cycle Route through the Kempen in North Brabant
Bergeijk, Luyksgestel, Eersel
Tell people you are going cycling in Toxandrië and everyone will look at you in surprise. Yet the beautiful Toxandrië is nothing more than the old name for the Kempen. The Kempenland starts between Eindhoven and Tilburg and continues across the border into the north east of Belgium.
Although the soil of the Kempen originally mainly consists of sand, the nature is varied. This is clearly visible in the beautiful nature areas you cycle past. Add the various nature gateways as a stopover point to your route and do not miss a single piece of nature. This is how you find, in the middle of the Brabantse Kempen, the Land van de Acht Zaligheden, at Natuurpoort TerSpegelt. If you cycle towards De Brandtoren, you discover the Peelse Heide and you can climb the viewing tower of about 25 metres high.
For those who like a bit of history, Natuurpoort De Negende Zaeligheyt is worth a visit. From here you can take a look at the Cartierheide. This area is also called the green border region and Napoleon left his traces here.
