Cycle route The environment of painter Jongkind
Tilligte, Lattrop, Breklenkamp
Painter Johan Barthold Jongkind grew up in the village Lattrop. Along the way you will pass several places where Jongkind lived in his younger years. Also along the grounds of his childhood home, which unfortunately was demolished some time ago. In honor of this painter, a special monument, the Young Child Monument, has been placed on the site of the parental home. Tip: walk into the house to read all about Jongkind's life.
On the cycle route, you will pass a number of mills, the Oortman Mill, Westerveld Mill and the water mills of Singraven. The first two are more than 150 years old and therefore have a rich (residential) history. In addition to the 'normal' mills, various Watermills can also be viewed at the Singraven Estate. The Netherlands has already achieved many great achievements with regard to water. One of these is building 'het Schuivenhuisje' to provide the Dinkel River with enough water.
The start and end point of this cycling route is at B&B Mössems, in cozy Denekamp. Start rested after an overnight stay at the cozy Bed and Breakfast. Afterwards, don't forget to try a specialty of the tearoom.
