Cycle route The area in museums

Harderwijk, Nunspeet, Elburg
This is the ultimate bicycle route for every lover of museums. You will pass six museums during this cycle route. While cycling along the Veluwe Lake and through the Veluwe, you can stop at the City Museum in Harderwijk. This museum will be completely renewed in 2022 and tells the story of the city of Harderwijk in an interactive way. And that story will surprise you!
Another beautiful historical town on this cycle route is Elburg. Here, you will find two museums that are worth visiting: the Sjoel (prayer shul) and Museum Elburg. The Sjoel (Shul) is a reminder of the lives of the Jewish families who lived in Elburg. Museum Elburg tells the special story of the Hanseatic city and fishing town of Elburg.
Did you know that Nunspeet used to be very poor? The dry sandy soil made it difficult to grow crops. When forests were planted and infrastructure improved in the early twentieth century this changed. It became a popular place for tourists and artists. That is why Nunspeet now houses the Noord-Veluws Museum, which tells the history of the village through art.
In the well-known woods, you will also find Bezoekerscentrum Zandenbos, which is not an official museum, but where you can see an extensive exhibition about the origin of the Veluwe. Inside the centre, you can watch films about the Veluwe nature. With a lookout point over the Veluwe Lake, this route is complete and you will have gained a lot of information about this area!
