Cycle route over the bridge and by ferry

Hattem, Windesheim, Wapenveld
‘When I think of Holland, I see wide rivers flowing slowly through endless lowlands,’ wrote Hendrik Marsman during one of his trips abroad. We don't know if he was thinking of the IJssel when he wrote this, but it's quite possible. Much of this route offers views of this border river as it meanders through the landscape between Overijssel and Gelderland.
The route also takes you past Hattem, where time seems to have stood still in the historic centre. It is no wonder that a number of museums can be found here, including the Voerman Museum Hattem.
Please note: You will encounter a ferry on this route. The ferry runs from the end of April to the end of October. Check the ferry timetable in advance to avoid disappointment. If the ferry is not running, you can cycle around it by following junctions 94-90-92-17-18 at junction 58, where you can rejoin the route. (And vice versa if you are cycling in the other direction.) This is a detour of approximately 4 kilometres.
