Cycle route Flower bulb area

Noordwijk, Voorhout, Halfweg
Dune sand, mixed with clay or peat, is called "ghost soil" which is literally translated from Dutch. These "ghost soils" are an excellent breeding ground for flower bulbs. No wonder you see most of the bulbs in bloom here in spring. Noordwijk also used to owe part of its prosperity to flower bulb cultivation. Noordwijkerhout calls itself 'The heart of the bulb-growing region'; the municipality has the largest surface area of bulb fields. Coincidentally, Noordwijkerhout also lies in the heart of this cycle route. Lisse is better known, probably because this is where the Keukenhof is located. Every year it attracts around a million visitors from all over the world.
Need to rest and recharge with a good bite to eat? Then be sure to get off your bike at restaurant U Górala in Noordwijkerhout and take a look at the equally colourful vintage car museum next door. Get your heart and nose racing on this flowery cycle route!
