Cycle route Deelerwoud and Veluwezoom

Loenen, Velp, Hoenderloo
This stunning cycle route takes you through two nature reserves: Veluwezoom National Park and the lesser-known but equally worthwhile Deelerwoud. Expansive forests alternate with endless heathlands. Birds like the yellowhammer, wheatear and raven are found here.
The route continues past the Elsberg, a hill that offers breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape. Here, you can take in the open heath and forests of the Veluwe in all their natural glory, while soaking up the stillness of the area. Another highlight is wildlife screen De Ringakker – a discreet observation spot where, with some patience, you might catch sight of red deer, foxes or roe deer moving through the underbrush.
Veluwezoom National Park gives you all the space you need to explore nature at your own pace. Both woodland areas are full of wildlife. If you go cycling at sunrise or sunset, you stand a good chance of spotting wild boar or deer. As evening falls, pine martens, badgers, bats, foxes and owls come out in search of food. In September and October, you might even hear the haunting call of rutting red deer – a truly special experience.
Enjoy one of the most beautiful cycling regions in the Netherlands – the Veluwe at its finest!
