Cycle route Around Veluwe and more
Harderwijk, Nunspeet, Hulshorst
Cycle along the edge of the Flevopolders next to the Veluwemeer. From your saddle you’ll look out over the long lake, the villages on the other side, the many water birds and islands in the middle of the water. In summer, lots of boats are out on the lake, giving everything a lively feel. Between Biddinghuizen and Nunspeet, take the bicycle ferry to cross the water and enjoy the Veluwemeer from the water too.
In Nunspeet, learn more about the village and the North Veluwe at the Noord-Veluws Museum. Want even more water fun? Then hop off at the Zandenplas. Through pastures and polders on the Veluwe side, you cycle through Hulshorst and Hierden, ending up in Harderwijk. This historic Hanseatic town has plenty to see, like the windmill and the Grote Kerk. Don’t miss the Stadsmuseum either – it introduces you to the city in an interactive way.
The road from Harderwijk to Flevoland used to be infamous. Traffic often had to wait for passing ships. That problem’s now solved: traffic flows underneath an aqueduct. So you might just have a ship passing above your head!
Note: check sailing times for the ferry at https://veerponten.nl/
Not running? Then take the detour via Elburg by following junctions 49-47-46-30-02-01-32 (or the other way around). This adds 11.7 kilometres.
