Cycle route along the Rhine and Romans

Millingen on the Rhine, Emmerik, Stokkum
This cycle route takes you through the beautiful landscape between Millingen aan de Rijn and Emmerich, where you can enjoy nature, culture and history. You follow the impressive Rhine river, with views of floodplains, shipping and swaying reed beds. The landscape is wide and peaceful and wonderful to cycle through at your own pace.
Along the route, you will encounter various reminders of the rich history of this region. The Rhine once formed the northern border of the Roman Empire (the Limes), and along the way you will find traces of this period, such as information panels and archaeological finds. Be sure to visit the Rhine Museum in Emmerich, where you can learn more about the history of Rhine shipping and the Roman presence in this border region.
One of the highlights of the route is the Hulzenberg. From this viewpoint, you have a beautiful view of the Rhine Valley and the surrounding landscape. Take the time to settle down on a cosy terrace and enjoy a well-deserved break during this route.
