Baarn, Lage Vuursche, Soest

Along the Amsterdamsestraatweg between Baarn and Soest is Soestdijk palace. Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard cheerfully wave to you, thanks to sculptor Kees Verkade. Due to a major renovation, you cannot currently visit inside but the park can be admired during the summer months. In Lage Vuursche you can cycle past Drakensteyn Castle, where Princess Beatrix (former Queen of the Netherlands) has lived since her abdication. Unfortunately, the castle cannot be seen from the public road and, for obvious reasons, it’s not possible to look inside. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings along this castle route.
