Brabant Monastery Trail | Around Oudenbosch

Oudenbosch, Etten-Leur, Roosendaal
Hop on your bike and discover the quiet charm of Oudenbosch and the surrounding countryside on this 50-kilometre tour. Along the way, you will pass special places, such as the former monastery and seminary Bovendonk, an impressive building with a rich history. You will cycle through a rural area where fields, farms and woods alternate. In the Rucphense Bossen, you will find peace and quiet among the tall conifers and open sandy plains.
There are plenty of opportunities to stop along the way. In the villages and small towns along the route, you will find cosy places for a cup of coffee or lunch. A nice break, with time to look around and take in the surroundings.
In Oudenbosch itself, the basilica immediately catches the eye. This remarkable church, built on the model of St. Peter's in Rome, is not to be missed. But there is much more to see. The Protestant church may be less well known, but it is just as charming and even older. Nearby is the Sint Anna monastery, once an inn, later a monastery and school, now a place of residence with character and history.
This route offers a nice balance between exercise, reflection and relaxation. As you cycle, history and nature alternate and you collect stories that will stay with you. See more cycle tours of the Brabant Monastery Trail at visitbrabant.com/kloosterpadfietsroute.
