Bicycle route World Heritage in Utrecht
Utrecht, Bunnik, Nieuwegein
The Rietveld-Schröderhuis in Utrecht is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Truus Schröder asked Gerrit Rietveld to design a house for her. Rietveld based his design on the ideals of De Stijl, an art movement of which he was one of the founders. Not only the building, but also the interior is his work. During this cycle route you will pass by this three-dimensional, asymmetrical architectural masterpiece. Perhaps they are not special enough to be included in the World Heritage List, but the immense forts you encounter during the cycle route also command admiration. At the Fort near Vechten, the Waterliniemuseum teaches you all about their significance. In addition to all these special sights, you can also enjoy the nature you cycle through. It is a varied but very interesting route!
