Bicycle route Mokum on the bike

Amsterdam, Amstelveen
Call Amsterdam and chances are you're thinking of the Amsterdam canals. Don't worry, you'll get to see some of them, but when we made this route we discovered that almost the entire route goes along water. For example along the ponds of the Vondelpark, the most famous park in the Netherlands and far beyond. Built over 150 years ago by the 'Vereeniging tot aanleg van een rij- en wandelpark' as a green lung in the city. As the city grew, there was a greater need for green space. That is why the Amsterdamse Bos was constructed. A misleading name by the way, only the part above the Bosbaan is Amsterdams. The rest of the forest lies on Amstelveen's territory. From the Amstelpark you drive all the way along the Amstel, the river that the city gave her. Via the Kloveniersburgwal you enter the city again.
