The wildlife screen on the Alverschotenseweg near Hoog Soeren is a popular place on the Veluwe to spot wildlife. From this open screen you can observe red deer, roe deer and wild boar, especially in the early morning or at dusk when the animals are most active. The screen is located right by the road and is always accessible. The forest path leading to it is uneven and can be muddy when wet.
Due to its popularity and the increasing number of visitors, the wildlife screen was renewed in 2024. The new design, created by Veluwse Architects, is built with wood and concrete and includes viewing slits at different heights, making it suitable for a wide audience, including wheelchair users. On the concrete base, the Veluwe soil profile, the podzol profile, has been visualised using different colour layers.
During the rutting season of the red deer, usually from September to mid October, the screen is extra popular with nature enthusiasts.
