The Asselsche Heide is an extensive heathland area on the Veluwe, located between the villages of Hoog Soeren and Assel. It is part of the Crown Estate Het Loo. The Asselsche Heide is an open plain with mostly grass vegetation. There are plenty of wild boar and deer living here.
One of the best places to observe wildlife is the wildlife observation point on the Pomphulweg West. From this point you have a beautiful view across the heath. Because of the openness of the area, it is an ideal place to spot animals, especially at sunrise or sunset, when the animals are most active.
