Westerpark - Nijmegen

Westerpark is a young city park on the west side of Nijmegen, officially opened in 2010. It is located in the Wolfskuil neighbourhood and was built on a site that was previously mainly a green strip between the railway line and a residential area. The redevelopment gave the area a new function as a park for meeting, playing and relaxing.

Various elements come together in the park. There is a sculpture garden with modern works of art scattered throughout the greenery. The sculptures make a walk through the park something surprising: you never know exactly what will pop up around the corner. At the edge of the park is a botanical garden with native plants and shrubs typical of this region. It is a pleasant place to pause and reflect on the richness of the local nature.

Young visitors have also been taken into account. The playground is spacious, well laid out and naturally embedded in the park. Whether you come for art, nature or a short break in the green, Westerpark offers it all in an accessible and relaxed way.
