On your bike ride through Wervershoof, make a special pitstop at De Hoop Mill, a beautiful eight-sided tower mill built in 1889. Originally used to grind grain, the mill still operates today—not just as a historic landmark, but as a functioning monument. After a restoration in 1973, it was made fully operational again.
Since 2013, the mill houses a museum in honour of sports reporter Theo Koomen, who was born in Wervershoof. The exhibition “Theo Koomen, there was only one” offers a unique look at his life and career. On the upper floor, there’s also a photo exhibition on the mill’s history and surroundings, and regularly changing art displays.
