At City Brewery Wageningen's brewpub, they like to tell you the story of locally grown barley. The brewery collaborates with two farmers in the immediate area who grow barley, rye, spelt and other ancient grains. Within the province of Gelderland, they collaborate with a small malting plant so they can use the tastiest basic ingredient for each beer.

Besides the best beers, the brewery has delicious fresh radlers for cyclists in summer, made on site with homemade lemon lemonade.

In addition, the brewery serves excellent (beer) cocktails, gin tonics, Dutch wines, ciders and much more. After all the tasting, of course you get hungry. Luckily, De Stadsbrouwerij has thought about that. From the kitchen, they serve the tastiest local snacks. The famous vegan zwamball has meanwhile become a real household word in Wageningen.

If you want to know more about the brewery, you can always take a guided tour. The tour can be booked for 10 people or more. The brewers will be happy to tell you all about the beers, brewery and the circular economy.

Near the brewery, you can cycle past a beautiful and sheltered field. Barley and rye are grown there. You can find these north of junction 35. If you cycle along the Buissteeg at junction 61 you have a view to the north over grain fields where barley is also grown for this brewery.
