Traditional style stacked houses - Zaandam
The hotel, designed by Wilfried van Winden, consists of 70 “houses” showcasing the traditional style and painted in four green colours reminiscent of the Zaan area’s past - stacked on top of each other. Van Winden graduated from Delft University of Technology in 1987, when he co-founded Molenaar & Van Winden Architects. Leaving the firm in 2009, he founded a new one: WAM Architects. The stacked houses project took off and a year later, in 2010, the hotel in this extraordinary building opened its doors.
