TOP Woudhuizen - Apeldoorn

On the edge of the Veluwe and the IJssel Valley lies a beautiful old urban country estate: Het Woldhuis or Woudhuizen. At the Tourist Transfer Point at this estate you can easily park your car and start your cycling or walking route.

The estate marks the transition between two very different landscapes. The Veluwe is known for its vast forests, heathlands and sand drifts, formed in the Ice Age and later used for hunting and timber production. The IJssel Valley, on the other hand, was characterised by fertile soils, where farmers laid out their fields and villages developed along the river. The contrast between these two areas makes a trip from Woudhuis particularly varied.

Woudhuis itself has a long history: the fields on the arable land, the hedgerows and the monumental manor house refer to the time when wealthy townspeople built their country estate here. Today, many cycling and walking routes start here to discover the area.
