The Walderveen Mill - Walderveen
Before 1895, there was a standerd mill on this spot. When the grandfather of the previous owner became a miller here in 1895, he demolished the dilapidated stand windmill and built a post windmill. This mill was destroyed by lightning in 1911; only the stone base remained intact. A new windmill was built on this base in 1912, using parts of a windmill that may have originated in North Holland. It is not excluded that this mill used to be in Friesland. During the war years, the windmill served as a military observation post for the Germans and later the Canadians.
The mill is still used to grind grain. Feel free to drop by to see the process.

Usually open Wednesday and Saturday between 9:30 and 16:00. Outside these hours, the mill is open when it is running, and by appointment.
